bedroom dilemmas
so do you have a room that is just that, a room. it is not really designed, but it is there, and it looks pretty but still needs more, but because of funds, time, etc it has not been completed? well, i do- a few of them, actually. and i tend to focus on pieces of them for a time being, then get distracted with work, life, etc and then they sit waiting for my attention, again. the room that is teetering in my mind right now is the bedroom. it is a great space. very bright with large windows [and a very outdated ceiling fan, but that is another story..it gets HOT in Atlanta!]. so while i have always yearned for the above tate bed from Crate & Barrel, i seem to be swaying down to the below. a simple cut out in the wall. i can see plants there, and a few pictures. uber simple + clean. …. oh, and alot less expensive to achieve than the bed being that budget is an issue.
i feel like the above is a “grown up” bed, but then i ask myself, “says who?”. can’t it be whatever you really like?
i still have some sheet rock repair that needs to be done in the house left from the bath remodel, so perhaps this can be a little addition to the sheet rock project. i guess i’ll wait to see on price, right! – ….what do you think?
you’re a jewel || brass bar necklace
so in case you did not know, i am truly addicted to collecting jewelry [...and design]. even if is to just wear every once in an while , pull out to admire or keep on display. a main reason to collect is to pass down to generation. now that i have a daughter, let the collecting commence! and how fun to pair each jewelry finding with a piece of decor i think fits it well. it is all design, right! i have started this little series called “you’re a jewel” to show my jewelry favorites paired with a favorite piece of furniture.
i have a great little glass pendant necklace i got from my sister after helping her with her wedding. it is prism glass with gold “M” on it for mila. and now mila has this little nickname “squoosh” + i would love to have a necklace for that. i have developed an affinity for this style bar necklace + thought it may be just the right touch for her nickname necklace. and made in brass instead of gold, it is much easier on the pocketbook. and how lovely paired with this chair from room + board?! classic + modern perfection.

so it is my birthday! and yes, another year older, but i have to say, i’ve never felt more satisfied than i do today. i am ever so grateful for my little lady who keeps me smiling + in perspective regardless of what is going on. little kiddos are just full of magic that way, aren’t they? and ever so grateful for some amazing friends + family. grateful beyond belief. and … some fun surprises to start my day. awakening to an email from west elm inviting me to participate in a store event on styling + spring entertaining, mila only woke up once last night, + she slept in by an hour and a half past her normal wake time… which means so did i! all amazing things! and to share my birthday with the spark of spring coming into focus, bulbs starting to bloom, is just another wonderful way to celebrate. happy friday everyone!

there is something so fun about little special times to find meaningful gifts, especially around springtime. love all the little items on this list. a little bit of jewelry, pastel-tones, and floral. does it get any better? i’d certainly be ‘hoppy’ is any of these items hop into my house.

springtime is here! can we get a hooooray! such a pretty time of year, isn’t it? but spring is not just for updating your wardrobe, but to springify your house, too. yes, that includes some decluttering, but also adding some new + springy accessories around your house from changing out your throw for a light-weight one to some pretty, springy accessories can make a huge impact bringing a light + springy feel for your home. i like to think as decorating your home in the winter as making it feel like a warm hug, + springtime like a cool breeze of fresh air.
