i’ve been meaning to get mila’s nursery design posted. now that she’s 10 months i suppose it is about time! it has been photographed, but i have not yet received the final images, but when i do- i’ll get them posted as well.
i really wanted to keep this room cozy + bright. it has a wall of windows where the sunlight beams through. i live in a small 1956 home, so you pretty much see everything as you walk through the home + wanted this to be an extension of the homes design. not something babyish. this has become one of my most favourite rooms in the home.
the artwork is a little nod to our home. i was born + raised in NY, so this impressionistic watercolour from a fav illustrator jessica durrant was the perfect match. in the other gold frames, i have my tiffany’s silver teether in one, + a boxer (dog) silhouette in the other (since kona, our dog is a boxer).
i have the chalkboard wall as the wall behind her cribs + it is so fun to write messages to her every once in while. the ones that linger are “happy girls are the prettiest” (audrey hepburn) + the earth laughs with flowers (ralph waldo emerson)
as for this little section ,i wanted to introduce you to a few basic baby items i could not live without. this dresser top diaper caddy from prince lionheart (link below) + the entire product line by honest . this company was founded by jessica alba (yes, the actress) because she could not find any 100% non-toxic products to put on her little one. since everything we put on us goes in us, she founded honest. mila has been using the products since i learned of them (about 8 months ago). they are 100% non-toxic, plant based products+ work to perfection. each + every one of them, + the diapers are super absorbable + come in some adorable patterns for boys + girls. my personal fav is the bloom pattern [flowers!]. every mom should know about this company!
